Building e-fuel production in Europe thanks to SOLER biocarbon
On the 13th of June 2024
SOLER and INERATEC join forces to sustainably transform industry and mobility. By combining our two advanced technologies, we can produce biocarbon, and e-fuels from renewable raw materials.
On our existing site in Lacanau, we plan to develop innovative biocarbon and e-fuel production, as the blueprint for following projects. The combination of our two advanced technologies unlocks new opportunities: achieving maximum resource efficiency, while manufacturing several sustainable products that replace fossil fuels.
The products of this production process are alternative of fossil materials:
- SOLER biocarbon replaces coal in the metallurgical industry.
- E-Fuels replace those of fossil origin, such as diesel, kerosene, or gasoline.
Thanks to this partnership, more than 95% of the biomass’ carbon will be used, achieving optimal resource recovery. This plant will avoid 100,000 tons of CO2 equivalent a year by leveraging the synthesis gas that is generated as a coproduct of the biocarbon.
As Pierre Soler-My, cofounder and CEO of SOLER, explains: “The partnership between INERATEC and SOLER is reconciling the challenge of managing the carbon footprint of mobility and transport, while protecting and developing forest resources.”
This collaboration is a further step towards climate neutrality in the hard-to-abate industry and mobility sectors.
